Carriage Mounted Spreader Bars - This particular kind of mast includes three sections as the name implies. The outside section is attached firmly to the lift vehicle. The next section telescopes within the mounted outside part and the internal most section telescopes within the intermediate section. Both the middle and the interior part elevate and the lift cylinders lengthen. Once again in this model, the fork carriage rides within the interior section. The 3 stage mast provides a shorter lowered height as opposed to the 2 stage mast. The common usage of the 3 stage mast is in areas like doorways where overhead clearances are limited. This particular mast is normally equipped with a center cylinder to be able to allow the fork carriage raise a few distance before the mast sections start extension.
The 2 Stage Mast consists of two parts. The inner section telescopes within the outer and raises as the lift cylinders extend. The external section of this mast model is attached to the lift truck. The fork carriage is positioned within the internal section. This mast type has a taller lowered height as opposed to an equivalent 3 stage mast or lift height quad mast.
